What is the Lumie Brightspark?

It is a light box designed to ensure you get the special bright light your body needs, even on the greyest of days. It gives you a real boost, making you feel more alert, more positive and less interested in hibernating under the duvet.

What's involved?

The Lumie Brightspark works while you do, so it doesn't take any extra time or effort to use it. It’s ideal if you’re sitting down for most of the day as it sits neatly on a desk or shelf, or even clips on top of most computer monitors. People vary, but most have it on for about 90 minutes a day and notice a real difference in just a few days.

Light levels determine the sleep / wake cycles of both animals and humans. The desire to sleep is brought on by the secretion of Melatonin, and the bright natural light or the light from a SAD lamp significantly reduces Melatonin, greatly improving our energy levels. Typical symptoms of SAD are depression, lethargy, anxiety, craving, social problems, sleep problems and loss of libido. These symptoms can be commonly resolved through the use of the Brightspark light box.

You should sit in a comfortable chair in front of a table or desk.

Place the SAD Light Box at an angle of around 45° to the left or right of your vision directly in front of you.

Adjust stand or the actual lightbox so the SAD Lightbox is directed to your eye level

The Bright Spark SAD Lightbox should be positioned NOT CLOSER than 20cm, AND NOT FURTHER than 140cm from your eyes.

The environment where you are using The Bright Spark should be a well lit room – Natural daylight or electric lighting if it is dark.

You can carry on doing normal activities whilst using The Bright Spark ie. Reading, writing, using a computer or watching TV.
